Suprise Birthday with the Kids

We arranged surprise birthday party for Maya (our boss). We brought all of our kids to our office early in the morning to give her a pleasant surprise. We decorated her room as if it is a kid birthday the night before. The kids were all excited and happy with the experience.

Story of Mino, Jino and Derior

Those are Aya's fictional characters in her book. This is the sample of two pages of her book. I particulary love her illustration here. Beautiful colours Mbak Aya!

Aya's Book: "Bertamasya ke Laut"

The cover of Aya's book 'Bertamasya Ke Laut'. Aya's book is 36 pages long and she really made a great book with interesting story and beautiful illustrations. Her skills of writing has improved a lot since she was enrolled in Tara Salvia.

Aya's Book Writing Presentation Group

This one is Aya's group, attended by Elok in the 4th grade.

Explains the Process

Aside from presenting his book, Rafif also described the book Writing process. It started out from listing his interests (which he listed out 42 of them! Like father like son!). Then he chose one of those interests as the topic of his book. After that he made the mind mapping which become the skeleton of his story, he finally wrote and type the story in the computer, and scanned all the illustrations. The teacher did the last editing and produced the book. Wow, a very thoughtful process which I'm sure will only benefit the kids brain. Kudos to the Tara Salvia School and teachers!

Contents of Rafif's Book

Rafif book is 27 pages long with plenty of illustrations he made himself which clearly visualize his story. This is one of the sample, where he illustrated Tom's tail is being trapped to the mouse trap he set up himself. :)

Presenting the Book

Rafif is presenting the story of his book to his friends and the other parents. He told the story clearly and in a very structured manner. A job pretty well done Rafif!

Book Writing Workshop

Rafif showed his first book 'Si Jerry Yang Jail'. He is going to present his book to me and the other parents.

Arrived at Office

After 35 minutes of biking, I safely arrived at my office at 7.20 am (left home 6.45 am). Enough time to did some exercises at the gym and took a bath afterwards. It's been a good and rewarding exercise! Note: took the pic with Pak Harsono, my office colleague who always be the first person coming to the office. :)

Bike to Work

Biking to work in Jakarta face you with lots of challenges and hazards. Aside from usual traffic risk mainly caused by erratic pattern of other road users, you also need to Be prepared for air pollution. That's why I wear the protective mask.
